Closures

I moved here almost five years ago. Since February 4th 2019 the following businesses have closed:-

(1) Discount Autos (Derek Monks) 2020?

(2) Walkham’s café. The pub is open but serves no food; not even packets of potato crisps. 2020

(3) The Emergency ward flickers like a reading-light in a gale. Blood test appointments are difficult to make. 2022 and February 2023

(4) Home Hardware closed and was taken over by Harold Durdle. 2021?

(5) Harold Durdle’s closed. 2022?

(6) The BELL (smart phone) store closed 2022?

(7) The pet-goods store; used to be at Raymond Guys, then moved to the Discount Autos building 2022

(8) The Church Street variety store 2023

(9) Greco’s pizza restaurant 2022?

(10) Scotiabank scheduled to close September 2024

(11) Perry’s All Parts store (Station Road). 2023?

(12) Rock Racing?

Now while these closures are happening we are told that Bonavista is a vibrant city, housing is scarce and so on. The projected image is that we just can’t get enough! The truth is that we get less and less each year.
